Emma Frost Marvel Rivals New Vanguard
Marvel Rivals is not slowing down with it’s roster of heroes and villains breaking free from the pages of our beloved comics and into the fight! Much to the delight of myself and many comics fans across the world, leaked information about upcoming characters has us all excited about who is going to enter the battlefield next.
Luckily for fans of the X-Men, it looks like Emma Frost is ready to step foot into the fight, possibly just in time for the Hellfire Gala. One of the most iconic members of the X-Men who’s history has had her fighting alongside and against our favourite mutants. Known for her psychic prowess which is as sharp as her tongue and her glistening diamond secondary mutation. Emma Frost is a fan favourite of many and the hinted arrival through leaks has us all getting the red carpet ready for her arrival.
Polishing the Diamond: Bringing X-Men’s Emma Frost to Life
As one of the many comic fans who is eagerly awaiting Emma Frost’s arrival, I couldn’t resist illustrating her and bringing her to life in an attempt of recreating Marvel Rivals style. I wanted to merge the stylistic design of the games art but also incorporate some homages to the comics that have blessed us with some of Emma’s most iconic outfits (Which as we know, is a lot!).
- Vanguard – Since Emma has been hinted at taking on the mantle of the defensive role within the game, I wanted her design to reflect this. Creating stylish armour that keeps the essence of her fashion forward mentality but making sure she looks like a battle ready monarch, taking a more literal approach to the White Queens title.
- Fur and Choker- Whilst Emma has had a multitude of iconic looks within the comics, for me whenever I envision her it’s with some sort of fur and her trademark choker. I also wanted to pay homage to the X-Men with the design of her fur and make it into an X shape. Since Emma is speculated to be a vanguard I wanted to keep the armoured appearance but pay homage to the shape of a corset that she is known for wearing.
- Colours and Design – I couldn’t not have a hint of her diamond form showcased within the illustration, appearing on her arm. However I also didn’t want it to be overly prominent since it’s her secondary mutation. Although I do envision her strutting out into the fight head to toe in her glistening form. There was also no other colour to pick for her than white for the outfit, although as another homage to the diamond I decided to make some of the armour a light blue.

Another reason I created this piece was to hopefully reach other fans of Marvel Rivals and hear their opinions on what they think our diamond queen will look like!
